Singapore is great. It's very westernized and reminds me of New York in a lot of ways except for the fact that it is SO clean. It literally does not have trash. Lizzie and I started off Saturday by going to this adorable coffee shop/bakery near her apartment called Chef Icon Nature Bakery. The coffee shop makes homemade breads and cakes with really great, simple packaging.
After that we went to a food market nearby to get some fresh squeezed juice and the classic Singaporian dish- chicken rice. Despite the fact that the majority of the food vendors made chicken rice, there was one in particular that Singaporians deem the best so we waited in line for 30 minutes to sample the best chicken rice in town. Chicken rice is literally what it sounds like- chicken over brown rice. The chicken is steamed then cut up and put over the brown rice with a brown sauce. Although it sounds quite simple and boring it was actually a really interesting dish with a ton of flavor.

Post chicken rice we did some more exploring of Chinatown, got a massage then went over to Lizzie's friends apartment for tennis, champagne and gin and tonics. Needless to say, I'm feeling right at home in Singapore so far.
Lizzie's friends are great and really interesting. I literally have not met an American since I've been here. Most of her friends are German or French. We went to dinner with a big group of people on Saturday to a French restaurant then headed to a rooftop bar with a great view of Singapore. The rooftop bar was followed by a warehouse party (SO up my alley). This was and mostly likely will be the closest thing to a rave that I will ever attend...and I am le tired.
