Raise your hand if you're ready for 4th of July weekend? ME TOO! I have a sneaky feeling some of your holiday weekends might have already started. If so, I'm jealous. If not, my guess is you've already mentally checked out and are counting down the minutes until that inaugural sip of Rosé to kick start the holiday weekend. Enter Kate Uncorked! Whether you're staying in town or traveling to a fabulous destination, here are three bottles of wine that need to be a part of your weekend in some way, shape or form. All are delicious and all are from America (duh). Please join me in celebrating the 4th of July with some Red, White and Pink!
2013 Sass Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley- I'm a HUGE fan of wines from the Pacific Northwest and this Oregon Pinot is a perfect representation. It has a great earthiness to it with hints of blackberry, truffle and spice. Pair this with anything you're grilling this weekend, particularly red meats! This wine is available at J. Emerson's for $22.95.
2013 Dr. Frank Riesling- If you know anything about wines from the Finger Lakes, you know Dr. Konstantin Frank's wines. Not only do they embody the characteristics that define Finger Lake wines but they were played a pivotal role in putting New York on the map as a credible wine region. This Riesling is bone dry with crisp acidity and notes of citrus and herbs on the palate. It also has great minerality. This is a great wine to start your night (or day?) with because it's low in alcohol, easy drinking and would be a great accompaniment to your cheese plate (which I assume you will be having). This wine is available at J. Emerson's for $18.95.
2014 Matthiasson Rosé- This post wouldn't be complete without a wine from California and rosé was the obvious choice. The Mattiasson Rosé is a blend of Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre and Counoise grapes from both the Dunnigan Hills and the Napa Valley. It has great stone fruit flavors with lots of floral notes. When is the best time to drink rosé this 4th of July weekend? THE WHOLE TIME. This wine is available at J. Emerson's for $24.95.
I hope you all have a safe holiday weekend! As always, thanks for reading! Cheers and happy tasting!
